From age 6

For little ones and big ones alike, we offer climbing classes supervised by our team.

Group classes for kids from age 6 in groups of maximum 10 children.

Classes take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays during the school year.

Our approach is based on games, technical lessons and free practice. For the youngest, the gym offers a wide range of tools to awaken psychomotor skills. For the older ones, classes focus on technique, flexibility and strength, while fostering group cohesion.

Youth rules

Families are welcome every day, Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 23:00 and on weekends from 9:00 to 21:00. An accompanying parent can come and climb with a maximum of 2 children. Our bouldering gym is only suitable for children over 6.

Children under 13 must be supervised by the accompanying parent at all times.

Teenagers from age 13 can climb upon presentation of a parental waiver signed by the parent/legal guardian.

We ask parents to declare that their children are in good physical health and to agree to the House rules. They can also be consulted at the front desk, and everyone is deemed to have read them.

Information about bouldering

Bouldering is a sport whose risks and consequences should not be ignored. In bouldering, falls happen onto foam, mats or crash pads. It is essential to understand that falling, and learning how to fall, are an inherent part of this sport.

Getting back to the ground in bouldering can happen by downclimbing, by a deliberate jump by the climber, or by an unintentional fall. A fall is a moment of lost control. It is through practice that the climber learns to fall correctly: by learning to absorb the fall with the legs and never putting the arms out to try to control the fall.

The main injuries in this sport are generally:

  • Lower limb injuries such as sprains or fractures;
  • Upper limb injuries such as sprains or fractures.

Both are generally due to poor landings.

The classes given by Midi Ecole d’Escalade and Petite Ile include exercises to help you get used to falling, in particular by developing or changing the climber’s instincts.

Insurance information

Each course participant, or their parent or legal guardian, acknowledges and accepts that there are dangers linked to the practice of climbing.

Each climber must have valid personal insurance. The climber is aware that they can take out additional insurance with the Club Alpin Belge.

In accordance with the law, Petite Ile SRL and Midi Ecole d’Escalade ASBL have taken out civil liability insurance with KBC Assurance. This insurance applies if the liability of Petite Ile SRL or Midi Ecole d’Escalade ASBL is engaged in the event of bodily injury and/or material damage that you suffer. The insurer’s intervention is limited to €2,500,000 per claim, with a deductible of €250. The deductible applies only in the case of material damage, not bodily injury.

It is possible, and recommended, to become a member of the Club Alpin Belge, the French-speaking federation for climbing, mountaineering and hiking (CAB), and thus benefit from additional insurance and many other advantages that you can discover on the page: Club Alpin Belge

The CAB offers two types of membership for climbers:

  • Club Alpin Belge Indoor membership — €36 up to age 23 / €50 from age 24. Insurance coverage for indoor climbing on artificial structures and slacklining (outside natural climbing sites) worldwide.
  • Club Alpin Belge Complete membership — €67 up to age 23 / €114 from age 24. Insurance coverage for the sports listed in the statutes of the Club Alpin Belge, including climbing (also outdoors on rock), mountaineering, hiking, skiing, caving, slacklining, etc. worldwide.
